I wanted to ask long term composers how many tracks you need to make decent money every month. And besides uploading if anything else needed to make sales.
thanks for help

Hi Dan,
I have over 600 stock music items here. However, more than one-third of my downloads come from just the top ten.sellers. My takeaway is that it's not just about quantity. On the other hand, having a big portfolio doesn't hurt either. You just never know what a creative will latch onto. (Bless them!)
I would suggest you research what's selling (the Artist Resources page can help there), and find a niche or two that you feel very comfortable with. Then, create your content with an eye toward having multiple versions of the same work. That's a great way to build your item count pretty quickly. For example, looped vs. non-looped and different lengths. And promote, promote, promote!
Good luck,

I think I have around 70 tracks and sold ONE item in a year. Admittedly, this is an old catalog as I'd never sell new music on a site like this. But, one thing I noticed in the royalty free market for small video producers is that they aren't really looking for originality. They seem to buy the same type of things over and over again and that's usually what "top seller" post. That being said, with tons of sites like this one having so much music swirling around, giving so many options with many people offering similar music or similar quality, the royalty free music market is pretty much dead if you want to earn good money. That's my 2 cents after almost two decades of composing for media and watching income RAPIDLY decline in the royalty free market over the last five years. Too many composers, too much music that's really easy to produce with today's technology.
