Camera Information

Today I was asked to resubmit my last 34 clips because they didn't have camera information. I've been at Pond5 for almost a year and this is the first time this has happened.

If I forget to tell camera or computer the system won't let me continue until I do. But I can leave camera info, location, media bins, blank and proceed. Have the rules changed or are some curators stricter than others?

Has anyone else had to resubmit because of leaving info out that didn't matter in the past?

They are becoming stricter which is a really good thing for the site.
Very proud of them.

But to answer your question I haven't been asked to resubmit for leaving out info. I have a template setup with all of that data.

Stricter reviewers = better quality clips. (Although I still see some clips here that make me think, "why did that make it in?)

But I, too, sometimes forget the camera type. Especially if I tag my clips all at once on the listing page, rather than going into each clip's tagging page individually, one-by-one.

They need to add a function to add a "default" camera, since most of us shoot with one camera type.

Several years ago we asked for a "default" camera setting or to let us make a simple list of our cameras to select from. It was answered and disproved. Maybe time to re-think.

I believe camera make and model is very important to a buyer. I believe may artists leave it blank on purpose because they are shooting P&S or low quality cameras.

Suggestion to P5: If description, keywords, camera make and model are not inserted then stop the submission form and make them mandatory entries. This makes it easier on artists and especially on curators having to notify then curate a second time.

2. On the photo side (and if possible on the footage side) exif data of camera, model and even lens should be automatically inserted and shown to buyer. Along with all the settings including f stop, time, ISO etc that all go together that helps determine quality.

It's about time clips are rejected for lack of camera used info.

what does it matter if the camera info is there? a photojpeg clip is a photojpeg clip... and what is going to keep a submitter from just typing in a mark iii instead of their sony p&s?

I agree with ODesigns and RekindlePhoto this should be default information. Clipcanvas has a way to set up defaults for fields that are usually, if not always the same; P5 needs something similar.

Maybe its Google, but as soon as I punch the first letter of the camera I'm using into the line, the camera name pops up and its just a matter of scrolling down and clicking..pretty easy. I only have to punch in one letter.

It only works while using Google.

It works with any browser that you've got the Autofill Forms option set to Yes. I upload with FF, Safari, and Chrome... always works.
