XH-A1 Vs. FX1000

I've been reading a lot about this new Sony camera coming out. The few things that catch my eye are smooth slow motion (captures 4x usual framerate for 6 sec). and also time lapse interval shooting.
Not sure if the xh-a1 has that.
Is anyone else looking at a new camera and choosing between these? I need some input. Come the first of the year I will be EXTRA itchy to buy one... so I am pulling the trigger January. I need some input people! I was looking at the EX1 (getting a little crazy!) then decided for me it isn't worth the extra 3k.
I know I've asked similar questions, but just want to make sure I get fresh opinions.

the fx1000 looks pretty good for the price. have you considered a canon 5d mk ii? i own a sony ex3 and love it but the next bit of gear I'm getting is the canon 5d mk ii - seen some unbelievable footage out of it with great dof, and you can use old manual nikon lenses to get more control. but then again i'm also wanting a good dslr so maybe its not for everyone.

I don't think it is for the videographer stock shooter.. just from what I have heard and seen. It does do amazing things though!
I have also found the z5u from sony... it is a little step up from the fx1000

There are some interesting first impression reports on the Sony HDR-FX1000
at this forum:

There will also I imagine be reports there on the HVR-Z5 when it releases in a few days.

Hey Scott,
Here is a review of the fx1000 from Videomaker

I still like the canon, more features and I like the dual audio input of the Canon.
The HVR-Z5U has that too. Too much to choose from.

I like the FX 1000, it is also a 2008 spec camera, great lowlight and can be used with XLR's by using an adapter, but for clips do you need sound?
If you are on a budget, the XH-A1 has been around longer, you can pick a used one up for around $2,000 which is great value, saving $2,000 over the Sony which is 80 clips worth of earnings.

I almost never use sound for stock but I'm thinking for other venues. I may do some weddings. Right now I do family type videos so the xlr would be a great addition.

Jake, you are right about too many options! Now I am looking at the panasonic AG-HMC150... looks the same as the z5u, but with avchd.

I was looking at that too. I don't know about AVCHD. Is that less compressed then HDV? The bitrate is 21 Mpbs, how is that compared to HDV?
I like that its also solid state but on the more affordable SDHC cards and holds hours instead of minutes.
