5D and Lensbaby composer

I just got a Lensbaby composer. Its a manual lens but works pretty good. Its abit hard to get the focus correct but it does prove that you can use just about any lens with the 5D.

Lensbaby on 5D

All the metering on the 5D wors just fine. It shows up as a 50mm and the Aperature gets recorded as f0. You get these littl magnetic Aperature rings that you insert with this little tool thingy. I used a f4 here. Because of the size of the item I was recording I should have gone to a f5.6 or f8.

I will also conferm with a manual lens canon has unlocked the shutter speed range and I have seen the shutter speed as high as 1/2000 of a second while shottoing movies.

It is just like useing Aperature priority with auto ISO turned on. Or using manual mode on the FX1000 with gain and shutter set to auto.

As soon as I can get some time I will do some more tests with the lensbaby. It takes some getting used to.

That looks cool.
I did see a clip from an indi film where the guy used a 5d and lensbaby for some special fx
Puts a new look to what you can do.

Yeah that is cool. I seriously considered getting the lensbaby but I wasn't sure about the apeture rings, whether that was complicated or whatever.

It comes withthis little case thingy that has a magnetic arm that is used to pull the disk out. Inside the lens just above the glass is a platform that holds the rings. It has three small magnets that hold the ring.

It works well and only takes a couple of seconds to change. With no ring its f2 then includes f2.8, f4, f5.6, f8, f16, f22

Now aprrently you can get some other accessories such as a Lens kit, Special shaped Aperatures, Closup,Telephoto kit.

Not truth be told you wont get the sharpness from this lens that you will get with a prime or even a quality Zoom. But it does what its suposed to do.

All in all I thinks its a bit over priced for the quality of the build.

FYI my last 25 or so stock clips were done with the 5DM2. I think its well suited to stock shooting.
