I think it depends on the subject matter - and that was for stills not video!
As I mentioned I can see it heading that way in years to come with video but agree it should be much better than that at the moment (depending on the material).

Yes, I think the video opportunities are much greater right now... Even the great Yuri Arcurs says his stills sales have been declining, but video is going strong. Video will get there in a few years, but there are still far fewer people shooting video, so I'm not sure how quickly it will decline.
I should clarify too that my best sales are coming from motion graphics, which not everyone can do. That said, I'm always amazed when I sell shots of zoo animals -- and most of them were shot on a much lower quality 1080i60 camera (Canon Vixia S200). I've made hundreds of dollars off of a couple of trips to the zoo!
