4K Spam

@ryanp5
In V2, In advanced search / section FORMAT there is a checkbox for 4K only and that's perfect for customers who need 4K clips but the problem is that little icon for advanced search. .. is too little and unmarked.
A clear sign Advanced search will be more visible..and ready to be used.
If you ask me I opt for advanced search menu by default after a term is searched....and if the customer don't want to use it that can be easily closed.

Interesting point and I agree there should be a search by 4K option only checkbox… BUT, what happens when the artist shoots in 4K and downsizes to HD?
SevArt 13 Jun 2013 09:00
@Global_Focus That's why I choose to not associate the 4K version with HD version for the moment.

Anyway the search engine works like this:
Default results for any keyword searched include all formats (HD, 4K...), but when you check 4K+ Only the results will show all the clips with greater than 1800 vertical lines (linesgt:1800).

A checkbox will not stop artists from adding the keyword 4K. It shouldn't matter if shot in 4K then downsized. 4K is 4K and any HD that has 4K listed is spam. I don't shoot 4K yet but for those who do it is important.

@RekindlePhoto You are right!

I care about that because I shoot time lapse footage in 4K since 2008.
Starting this year also in real time.
But as you know there's so many spam keywords around here on Pond5.

Hey @SevArt, if you would like to have a bigger or separate 2K/4K button or icon, please put it in the feature request section at http://pond5.zendesk.com/forums/21872467-Feature-Requests, as well as the request to have the advanced search show up as a default. Please separate the 2 requests as well, so that others may vote on each request separately.

Keep in mind, that as with most of the feature requests, the more votes they receive the better!

Also, if any of you find artists who are using 4K as spam keywords, please send them to us at curators@pond5.com, or you can email me directly at ryan@pond5.com and we'll make sure to contact the artist to rectify the issue.

Ryan, do a simple keyword search "4K" and sort by sales . You will have a substantial list to notify and delete the 4K keyword. I'm not sure this is a suggestion for a feature change as it is a serious spam issue. No matter what suggestion is approved it makes no difference if 4K is improperly used as a keyword. Lazy use of templates causes many of these issues.

Woks both ways I guess their are consumers who download progressive SD footage and re-scale it to HD. A solution is to upgrade their platform to support down-scaling/conversion of footage, with relative pricing, to provide an array of formats from a single submission.

@Ryan

4K Spam can be find by using the syntax 4k lineslt:2100 in search or click HERE

I put in the feature request my opinion http://pond5.zendesk.com/entries/24122622-More-visible-advanced-search-button-or-advanced-search-menu-by-default-for-customers. It's more on the customer side but who want to vote is free to do so.

Ryan,

This search string will help you to focus on the "problem", assuming the files will not be edited. If you find no files in the search results, the files were edited:
