It would be nice...but all other places would have to do it too. (not trying to put down p5, but they know we submit other places, and they want to do what the majority is doing... I'd imagine).
It also would save tons of space...

hi shedli,
i think, in this part of service is pond5 very slow ... regretfully ... i hope, i can await this function in the future ... mac and mov is not alone standard in the world ... and i will my clips sell in native quality (hdv .m2t) and i will upload small original size of m2t and not big bloated converted mov´s from original file .. .sorry, but this conversation is very old and you "looking .... and looking ... and looking at beginning to accept those in the future" ... i can not understand, why you can not accept m2t files ... what is the problem for accepting m2t? software? hardware? licence?
... sorry pond5 ...

Isn't it easier to submit he same file to the various agencies in the same format? I agree m2t is small and original but no one else accepts them either. Of course P5 get all my videos. other places about half or less.

Agree with you Don. Unless everyone does it then it won't be worth it.

hi don ... i understand you, but for me is it not easier ... m2t is format, what i have and i must convert my for example 45 mb original size clip in to 300 mb mov ... it´s upload problem for me ... i can 5 clips in m2t format upload or 1 clip in mov ... it´s not economically for me ... time is money and why native format convert in to other??? i am "pc user" and dont have a mac ... many people have no mac and must convert the clip again ... it´s not good idea ... pond5 can sell two formats (original and mov) ... and the buyer can decide, what is better for him, clips in native format or in mov ... it´s all

I also would love to have an option to import 30MB files instead of 300MB, but there should be a very good reason why P5 (and IS, SS and few other big stock agencies) do not accept the 'native' HDV format. I can guess that the 'native HDV' is not a standard and depends on the camera you shoot and the software you capture video. For example Pinnacle studio does not capture in .m2t format but capture separately video and 2 audio channels.

I very much agree on file size, it's a pain to take 1 1/2 hours to upload a 20 second HD clip. BUT, unless all of the agencies start to accept for me it's easier to convert to .mov and then all of them can accept it. Yes, a select few do but having to crop, color correct and save two versions is a very big hard drive hog. I also agree that HDV must be a good format or the camera makers would not be using it. Also yup there is a problem with some software to edit or process m2t. We were once told h264 was going to be the answer to our dreams also. It would be great to upload 100mb 30 second clips instead of 500mb 20 second clips. It'll happen and when it does I hope everyone will accept them. I'm also a pc user, macs are for yuppies ;)

The other major issue, which we've seen here, is that customers need to be able to USE the files. If they don't have support for HDV on their editing machine, uploading it in that format is useless.
There have been a number of cases in the forum already where a customer has purchased a clip uploaded in a format they don't have the codec installed on their computer and have needed help.
As nice as supporting all kinds of fancy codecs would be on US, ultimately it HAS to be friendly for the buyers, otherwise your clips are useless and just take up hard drive space.
