I don't think the standard has been set yet as to my knowledge nobody is really broadcasting in 4K yet (except for certain internet entities)
dapoopta 14 Feb 2014 04:16
also the 4k resolution is still up in the air...

I would bet 16:9 format will win in the end to standardize it with current HD screens.
Normstock 14 Feb 2014 11:53
My guess is UHD as the standard for broadcast and stock video.

I am worried of investing $2000 in a GH4 and then finding out that 100 mbs is "substandard" for 4k tv's, 4k home movies and big screen movies.

Is the bitrate the only thing that is in question for broadcast standard?
Not color space or higher than 8 bit?
I know you can get an external recorder to get all of that back but look at the size and complexity of what you have to carry around.
Just for my own education.

Speaking of external recorders that will record 4K. I'm sure now that BMC has released a camera that will record internally 4K they must have a 4K recorder that the will introduce at NAB. I'm sure it would be relatively inexpensive.
