The every other DSLR and RED killer?

1920*1080 RAW frame would be huge.

30fps x 3MB (at least) would be 90 MB/second

Nice. That would be amazing

Rumor has it that Panasonic and Sony have something big in the works.

* Panasonic have developed a 4K x 2K image sensor (approx. 12 megapixel) based on 'dual exposure technique'
* The sensor is described as having new architecture that tries to improve sensitivity by a factor of 4 or more
* The architecture change is a new design which allows green pixels to be read independently of the blue and red ones on the sensor.
* The green pixels are exposed 4 times longer than the red and blue, thus achieving the sensitivity gain
* Motion artifacts are introduced as a result, but clever signal processing of the red and blue channels corrects the motion artifacts introduced in the green channel by the long exposure
* Red and blue channel gain achieved by pixel binning in 4x4 mode

too many rumors!!!!!!!!! I can't take them

In my humble opinion the GH2 will be the Red killer, in fact it will be the camera of the year.

I wish I had a 5DMK2 for stills... but the GH1 for video I think is the best on the market for vDSLRs.

Is the GH2 full frame? Does the Red do 120fps? or what is the frame rate limit
dnavarrojr 19 Feb 2010 18:03
Has there been any official announcement on the GH2? It's silly to announce something as the 'end-all-be-all' if it hasn't officially been announced. I can't find anything but rumors about the GH2.

The Gh1? that has about 12 mp, 5d has like 21.
The 5ds (physically) large sensor allows the image to have more clarity and greaty Dof effect. Also when the sensor is larger it accepts more light, meaning it shoots better in low light.

Correct vader, this is the software for using a similar method on the 7d to shoot raw

However

Raw sucks, its huge, compressed video can be tweaked a lot, uncompressed video is impractical, it takes too much space. How many stock sites sell uncompressed footage? Which TV networks broadcast uncompressed footage? Nobody uses it.I hate Raw, I can do greenscreen without shooting raw I see no reason to use it. Unless im doing advanced 3d tracking. Even then I can compensate with other techniques to adjust.

Its been 3 hours. Somebody start a rumor.

dapoopta 19 Feb 2010 23:53
Istock DID buy SS. They are going to distribute all our clips for free now. Thanks Istock.
