I feel sorry for the Europeans having to pay so much for just about everything ...

We have to pay for our "free" healthcare somehow!
As an aside, by law all prices in Europe have to include sales tax in the advertised price. As this is at least 15% (20% in the UK but not on "essentials" like food and children's clothes) it can make the prices seem higher.
Also by law in Europe you now get a 1 year warranty on goods by law, there is a bit of a grey area up to 2 years, and can actually get partial refunds on faulty goods (i.e. those that develop a fault in normal use) for up to 6 years in the UK.
To get back on topic the Blackmagic Camera at BH Photo for $2995 ex sales tax is available for £1774.17 plus sales tax in the UK. At the current exchange rate of 1.67 this is $2963.
As a business I can claim back the VAT (sales tax).

That's a good part of a business. We (USA) can still buy online out of state sales tax free or in the case of Utah any thing used in the production of video can be bought in a store tax free.

How does buying video equipment in a store tax free work?

I've been looking at video shot by regular people that have received the camera. The quality is great, no denying it.
I am seeing that "black hole" problem that was on the Pocket camera before the firmware upgrade.
I would have thought they wouldn't have that on any newer camera.
I guess the current fix is to not shoot with the sun or car head lights or any other bright spot of light in the frame. :)

Hi Jake ... In Utah they put in place to encourage movie production. Because of that, anything you buy that is used for the production of movies can be purchased tax free as well as normal income tax write-off.
"The Sales and Use Tax Exemption allows film, television and video productions to take a sales tax exemption at the point of sale on machinery and equipment. The exemption does not apply for still photography. Download the tax exemption certificate TC-721 from the Utah State Tax Commission."
Hope that helps some of the Utah residents. This way you can buy from Pictureline in SLC who will match B&H and Adorama prices saving a shipping delay.

The same down here. You have to be a corporation and fill tax exemption paperwork. You get a tax exemption number for your business which includes no state income taxes.
