Battery explosions are just - cool. Hah hah.

The other - "drone hysteria" we should all freak out we are so interesting in our "private lives" that now the kid or perv with the flying robot can spy on us even though he was always able to with a periscope, telescope, hole in the fence, whatever. Who the hell really cares, anyway? Safety issues are one thing, but privacy concerns are pointless - at least unless you can stop the guv'mint thugs from catching you with your mistress...

Where did that battery come from? DJI supplier or some eBay / Chinese knock-off ? I have the Phantom 2 Vision + & 3 batteries. Have had no problem.

I actually have a battery from DJI that seems to get very hot during use. DJI has a real problem. They admit fly-away problems and accept little responsibility. It will only be time before someone is hurt by a rogue DJI then they will start to take care of customer support.

The FAA regulations are so unflexible that even quadcopter manufacturers cannot film their own commercials to advertise their flying machine inside USA because it will fall under commercial activity.

Now that you've said this, it is likely only a matter of time before someone goes after the manufacturers of these devices, which may curtail their activity more than the FAA can.

Don, you might want to toss that battery or at least check the cells - if you have a bad cell it can cause explosion. If it is consistently noticeably warmer than the others this is an early warning sign. Any LiPo can suffer this, not just DJI-manufactured.

These batteries are serious business: (and scroll down this page to where the failure tally is - largely user caused. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187

In my continual extensive perusal of UAS-related information, usually to break up incessant keywording and spreadsheet eye-crossing boredom caused thereby, I ran into this lovely video today.

Drones, the FAA, and YOU!
