Aliasing with External Recorder?

And furthermore...

Here is a download link to a file that is (to my eye) totally screwed up by this fault. After discussion with Sound Devices, whose engineers are working on the problem which is not actually the fault of them, but issue with an undocumented variance in the way some cameras output video over HDMI, possibly also SDI, in certain ways, as PsF (or not) even as 1080i, but transmitting proper progressive footage, and the interpretation of such, I determined that it might be possible to resurrect this footage (and several other clips suffering from this affliction).

However, I can't figure out how to do it. This is a field dominance issue, but no combination of settings, whether by media interpretation manipulation, or project/composition settings changes in Vegas Pro or After Effect did any good.

If anyone has an idea about this, I would be VERY interested in hearing it!!

This is an unadulterated file (DNxHD 145 8-bit) that I uploaded for those curious enough.

Thanks!

Mizamook,

Yes, you can shoot clouds, as long as they are not thin horizontal or vertical clouds.

I can't open the file. Where do I get the additional component (for free)?

Funny.

I am thinking that one of my choices is to shoot stuff that needs high-bandwidth and high quality. I realize that flaws are in every recording system, and sometimes lead to great art, or a "feel" but I am trying to record and represent reality accurately. So I feel I need to be able to shoot these systems-challenging situations.

Anyway, the codec can be downloaded here: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Download/en423319
