Replacing videos at editors request

sapdmedia 21 Oct 2012 01:42
An editor asked me to remove the audio from some of my videos, and I was wondering if there is a way to do that retaining all key words and descriptions.

Or do you have to delete the old and start over.

thanks

Must be missing something here... If the person requesting this is an "editor" even a novice, removing the audio track from the video clip is just dead simple, and they can do it in seconds.

If you are going to do it in your NLE and re-submit with the same file number, you should contact P5 to make sure you can overwrite - otherwise they may have to be uploaded as new clips w/o audio and you will have to do your housekeeping on the metadata.

There isn't a way to replace the video with a newer version.
You'll have to delete the original videos, edit the videos and re-upload

Surely sapdmedia meant to say curator instead of editor.

I did mean curator.

Here is the message that was in my inbox:
Hello!

These clips look great!

However, you need to remove the audio from them. In certain cases, it's better to eliminate the audio from the clips where the audio is a) distracting, b) not adding anything to the clip, and c) where you can hear your voices talking during the clip, which is the case for many of these. A buyer is most likely going to delete the audio anyway, so removing any unnecessary audio would benefit you and your chance to sell clips!

The curator also gave me and e-mail address to notify him when I was done, so I won't have to wait in line for approval.

Thanks to everyone that responded.

I appreciate the help.

Upload the new clip and then use the "copy details from clip" to copy everything from the old clip to the new clip.

Thanks for your help. That worked out great, and saves me a lot of time. I didn't know I could do that.

thanks
