Vertical Videos

Email today from Pond5 with a call for submission of vertical video. Are people buying this kind of stock? If so, should it be filmed with a decent camera or are people just filming with their smart Phones? I did a quick search and found vertical videos listed between $100 and $500 that were shot with a smartphone! Are these selling?

The quality of the videos recorded with the latest smartphones is no longer any different from that of a decent camera. Do some research on the technical conditions. The quality of videos from smartphones is just as good. There are no more differences. On the other hand, if you are a filmmaker, a camera has many advantages over a smartphone or cell phone camera. You'll have to Google to find out what these advantages are, but there are no longer any differences in the quality of the videos. I hope I was able to help you.

I hear you. With the Black Magic software and a good filter system, You can get some pretty amazing-looking video. Just wondering if this is selling at Pond5 prices. I am heading out on a road trip and could get some good vertical stuff, but not really wanting to spend the time tagging if these are not selling.

The answer is yes, you can sell your videos at Pond5 prices. If you are on the road (wherever you are) and record a video and then come home and turn on your PC and log in to Pond5 and then upload your recorded video to Pond5, it will be reviewed by the curators and then you will get approval. I don't know your smartphone camera, but with a good to very good smartphone camera, the quality is sufficient to meet the technical requirements of Pond5. Why don't you go to a place near you and shoot a video and try it out? I don't know how long you've been doing this, but there are a few people on YouTube who are or were also on Pond5 and they posted a lot of videos on Pond5 at the beginning. They were beginners and over the days and weeks and months they got better and better. Maybe if you watch their videos on YouTube you will develop faster and produce great videos for Pond5 after a few months, but of course you have to deal with it, unfortunately there is no other way. You have to gain experience and learn from your failures and then produce even better videos and then you will earn money, maybe even a lot of money. There are people who make 5 to 10 videos a day. With 5 videos per day, 5 days a week (you take two days off) that would be 100 videos per month. If you do this continuously for 6 months, you'll earn quite a bit. Of course, I can't tell you how much you'll earn.Of course you can't, but I think you'll make some good videos over time and people will buy.I mainly enjoy it and I think about the best possible quality I can deliver and then I also research (not only, but also) which places there are in my area and where you can make videos. If you have a car, take a drive around your neighborhood and you're bound to find something you'd like to film.No one can guarantee sales, but check out Pond5 regularly for tips on what's currently trending.Maybe you could create a similar video in good smartphone quality and then it could work. The people who do this like to drive around in their area or even all over the world and like to explore everything. I don't know where you live. But take a look at all the topics on Pond5 and think about what videos you can make in your area. For example, not far from me there is a nature reserve with lots of rare birds. I don't know if you live in the country or in the city, but the topics on Pond5 are very diverse, they cover almost every topic and so sooner or later you should get ideas about, what topics you will or can make videos about.
