What happens if your footage is placed in film/TV?

Do you reap any new benefits from having audio/video placed in a TV ad or show/ movie? I've sold some audio, just wondering if anything good comes of that. Anyone with experience here please chime in.

You get 50% of what you sold it for and that's it..this is why people need to keep that in mind when pricing their audio/video/stills, etc..because people are using your product to make money for themselves. Don't sell yourself short.

And they can use it over and over forever for anything. And maybe it will only sell once. Like Michael said, price to cover all costs and make a profit on one sale. And they never will tell you where or on what project they use it. I've sold thousands of clips and have no idea on what they are being used for. Good luck.
