Windows will not play my AVCHD files

I am trying to play my AVCHD files in Windows media player but I am being told the file is not recognized. I can play previews in Lightroom but there are ripples, waves going across some of the videos as they play. This happens on some youtube videos in HD mode.

I haven't had any problems with AVCHD and WMP, and don't see why it shouldn't play properly. Do you actually get an error message or does it just play badly? Maybe your computer or screen doesn't take 50p very well?

My screen is set to 60p. It just wont play at all.

Buy Quicktime Pro, last time I looked it was only $30.

WMP just says it has encountered a problem and can't play. Downloaded Quicktime 7 and that also says it is a file it doesn't understand.

Try installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, it's free. Then your *.mts or *.m2ts files should open with "media player classic" which part of the installation.
