I'd be interested in what the quality is like.

Hi Nair, thanks for the reply. I need to get a new smartphone and see that the Xperia Z series has optical stabilisation whereas even the new iPhone 6 only has digital stabilisation (the 6 Plus has optical)

I'm going to wait for the Z3 which is coming out soon with its new lens.

I know these Xperias have the best stills of any smartphone and so hope the video is also the best.

I've got a Z2 and it has a good camera. The thing I don't like is that you can't focus by touching the screen in film-mode. Every once in a while pics are out of focus too.
It sure hasn't got an optical stabiliser; when I select stabilisation it crops the frame so it can stabilize the video. It is in fact digital stabilisation...

Thanks for your comments - sorry I meant the Z3 has the optical stabilisation - at least that's what I've read.

Might buy a new set of glasses - Z3 doesn't have optical stabilisation either.

Well then buy Nokia Lumia 1020. It has a perfect video quality and awesome lens, also optical stabilizer.. Do you guys think it's worth trying to make some footage for stock with a phone??

Thanks for the suggestion - I've just checked it out. Camera & Video 100% and low price but I just don't think I could live with the Windows phone 8 platform on a smartphone - so, unfortunately, it's out of the running - pity.

Is it worth using a smartphone for stock footage? Guess time will tell.
