After Effects

I have just started using After Effects and have been looking at tutorials on the net.

The problem I'm having is with time lapse, I put a 5 minute clip into a new comp, time remapped it down to 15 seconds, had in and out points set.

When it went to render it went for 3 hours, at the end I played it in Quicktime pro, I had my 15 second clip and then the balance of 5 minutes of black playing.

How do you render just the 15 seconds?

Change the comp settings to the length that you want the final comp to be.

Thanks I'll try that

Park your playhead at the START of your 15 seconds on the timeline.

Then, hit B (for Beginning).

Then park your playhead at the END of your 15 seconds on the timeline.

Then, hit N (for eNd).

Then right-click on the grey workarea bar, and choose "trim comp to worksize" (or whatever it says).

Voila. Your 5 minute comp is now 15 seconds.

Thanks I gave it a try, I managed to edit the clip again, then I just edited the time in the composition settings......turned the render time into 17minutes.

Thanks both of you for the helping hand.

I guess I'm just lazy, I set my comp size to the final output I want, drag the full clip to the timeline, remap time and viola it fits in my comp and renders perfectly.

Hi Kim, I tried that but I noticed the right hand key frame marker didn't appear
