Big Fast Cost Effective Redundant Drive?

I love the little My Passport drives. I too travel with a pair of them. I also get lazy and use them a lot. Great backups, too, take a long time to fill a briefcase! Love bus-powered devices as well.

Thinking of going with the LaCie 16TB "4Big" thing. Might do RAID5 for best option balance between capacity and redundancy.

Nope...backups of terabytes of footage not happening from Haines! Not with an 80BG/month cap!

Cool thing is once uploaded, even though it's certainly not intended for it, Pond5 is a last-ditch backup for rendered clips.

Hi Mizamook, I read your comment about shooting video to pay for more gear to shoot video to husband Sid. He loved it. Seems like its what we are doing, too - although add in to raise the money to travel more places to shoot more video to pay for gear and travel -- and more hard drives which are rapidly taking over the house.

Globescope (Mary?) I think that's a hoot. Glad you and Sid appreciate the wry humor. In fact, I'm almost "geared up" except for (insert $$$$$ reasons) but it is also going to travel...when I get around to it. Problem is, ironically, as I get more gear, it gets harder to travel!

Egad!
