Pond5 how well it works in sales?

Ecoaudio 7 Dec 2015 01:12
Hi, I'm new Pond5. I made my first climb, 9 items of audio, and I'm seeing it had no click so far, after a week. I see it in the statistics. Maybe you can help me a bit with this. How well the items sold in Pond5? this happens to me is now normal? I keep uploading more items and wait? how much income to get average per month? Thank you! Greetings!

it's normal.

you'll have to have at least some tens of tracks before some regular (but most probably low) sales. people have big portfolios and still not so much sales. it's a jungle. 9 is a start, but the total is 400,000 music clips, so your chances are still low.

what you have to do is not give up. and upload (regularly) and keep prices decent.

you have at least 9 views cuz i looked at your page but im not a buyer. probably others will look too as a result of your thread so dont get enthused :D

it's a pretty much steady market, if you have a good porftfolio. it's, in my experience, the best market there is on the royalty free side of audio selling. you are new, just a month and a half, so it's not that bad, really. i see you uploaded your 9 tracks in one or two days. dont do that, you have to do it regularly. you shouldve upload it them one every week, or at least one every couple of days, depending on how regularly you plan to compose from now on. the thing is you have to upload regularly (at least that's my knowledge..). definetely upload more (but do it regularly not in bulk, not a lot of tracks all at once, try to make it so that your upload frequency is somewhat regular).

yes its normal no views in just a month and a half and just 9 tracks. yes wait, but wait actively - by making more, uploading more (regulary and keeping the prices decent, probably a little more then your current prices. you could go for 40 bucks full lengths and 20 the intros/edits/loops, its not like you're losing anything right now). know your expectations, if youre doing it for hobby, dont be upset if you dont get sales. if your doing it for financial reasons mainly, try harder, upload more, treat it like a job and it will pay like a job, treat uit like a hobby and it will pay as a hobbit (hobby :D ).

your average will depend on your upload regularity and size of portfolio, but it will take time, probably at least a year (?). there is a a somewhat average month income, meaning that once you reach, for example, say 100 bucks (just giving a random number here), that sum will vary more or less from month to month but will to some extent be the same (some months 70, some months 120, but you do can expect some regularity in sales after a while).

p5 is a good market (best on royalty free) and stuff sells well. they allow us to set own prices, it's really the best there is, imo.

so mainly, you are allowed to dispair and get upset - no problem there -, but keep uploading regularly and keeping prices decent (slightly above average - and dont follow p5 recommendations at uppload where they recommend prices...those are low prices, dont go for them, see the average and price a little more then the average, or a lot more if you have a lot of items and are willing to risk).

oh and i almost forgot, cut edits out of all your tracks and sell them as separate entries. and do name them accordingly.
example:

full-length track name: "rock track"

edit 1 name: "rock track - intro"
edit 2 name: "rock track - loop 1"
edit 3 name: "rock track - loop 2"
edit 4 name: "rock track - outro".

(or some similar naming but to point to thge original file, not a name that doesnt relate to the original)

clients go for that too (for edits) and its a really easy way to increase your portfolio and number of views/sales/adds..

keep in mind to upload on other sites too, dont depend on just one market (even if it is the best)

and dont forget, its really ok to get discouraged (even a lot...), but you have to continue at it anyway (if you want to do it).
