First, I think you're selling yourself short if you think that only old music sells. I've sold songs a day after uploading, and regularly sell songs for the first time within a month of uploading. Obviously, the longer a song is around, the more likely it is to match to the right buyer. But I think the issue has more to do with the absolute number of views (not the frequency) , which will naturally increase over time.

Many of the most popular genres ARE over saturated on Pond 5: i.e. stupid ukulele corporate pop. That's fine. Do you really want to make that music? I'd recommend reading up on the idea of "long tail" searches when it comes to Google. Overall, the market for all the "other stuff" is WAY larger and WAY less competitive than the most popular view genres. So write music that YOU enjoy, and use all 50 keywords to tag it for the long tail. You'll end up building an asset that is really valuable.

Finally I'd say that while Living Room Classics is *almost* always right, and probably the person I've learned the most from on the forums, I'd take issue with just one of his suggestions. The idea of dripping songs out slowly was valid in the old Pond 5 layout, when curation was faster. These days, submissions take longer, and the redesign doesn't feature new music, so you're better off uploading music when it's ready. Time in the market is better than perfecting the market.

Good luck and lemme know if you've got any questions!

Just keep plugging away. It is important to have good quality, so focus a lot on that, but soon the speed will come too (but the relative speed varies for every composer and producer). Still, never rush anything. Spend as much time as is required for whatever project you are working. Make as many versions of a song as you can, because you never know if a certain version will grab the seller more than another. Many times I end up being surprised by which track version ends up selling, and which ones don't. If I would have kept only what I thought was the best version (in my opinion), I may not have gotten any sales on that track at all (for the versions uploaded). Once you do start getting sales, and you have enough sales data, you can start to see what kinds of tracks of yours sell, and which don't. Then you can focus more on those styles which sell more. Even still, I like to experiment and go into other styles from time to time.
This is just my advice and a little bit of insight into how I work. You can take it for what it is.

Cinematics, I think the future of Pond5 is very bright as well. It's seems counter intuitive, but with the saturation of the markets, sales have not slumped, but have increased 10-20 fold from 1-2 years ago. And they are continuing to grow as a site. There is no reason to believe Pond5 is going anywhere any time soon.
