To software stabilise or not ?

Thank you Rekindle and Mizamook. Now i got a better understanding on how to proceed. Your help has cut down on the questionmarks a good bit. Its alot to take in for me as i only have done "run and gun" shooting for fun as a hobby before and did not bother much with making it professional looking as it was only for me, family and relatives.

I cant get all the gear at once as its a hobby. It might take 6 months or more before i start to actually produce quality content in a steady rate if i am lucky. Depends on how much time i get and if i feel i got what it takes ;)

For now its going to be some clips once in a while. Not expecting sales for a long time but more like a motivational portfolio. I lack experience big time setting up shots "in the wild" but i am glad i joined here becouse i want to learn and be part of this from the get go.

I will look into Resolve for sure but atm i am learning Premier Pro as that is what will be used at the place i might work at (if i get it). This Stock footage deal is only a step forward in the hobby to learn the buissniess, how to make more proffessional videos and hopefully make a buck in the process.

Thank you again, i will print this out and let the knowledge sink in !

After much considering i bit the bullet and ordered a SliderONE PRO. It has had some firmware problems in the past but it is fixed now. https://edelkrone.com/products/sliderone-pro

Not cheap but i need something that will make my footage stand out. I tried static shots with tripod but it did not look very interesting without some kind of motion. I like being in the nature so i will do slidershots of Swedish forest and the macro world in it. Reason for going with a small motor slider is that i can fit everything in my bag and minimal setup time. Also for macro i wont need very long slides.

So i tested the slider today and i like it !
It is a very short slider so one has to be creative for it to be worth using.
When i started testing today i had the forground object too far from the camera. For this slider you need a forground object close to make that parallax effect strong.

This video i shot, straight from camera only cut and upload.
As you see the slidereffect is very minimal as there is no prominent forground object close enough but i still like the subtle effect. The slider is powerfull enough to be used at any angle but i need to get an arca clamp and some things to make mounting the camera on a vertical slider more easy.

Too bad the highlight were blown in this clip. Do you think its sellable or should i return and make a better one ?

Good thinking. I approve. The shot is great. You do not need a lot of motion, sometimes even just a little bit helps break the "staticness" of a shot.

I have the 3' Cineslider, just sold my Edelkrone SliderPLus Pro large (for a pittance, sadly) and am about to put my SliderOne version 1 for sale as I preordered the SliderOne Pro ... the older SliderOne could not do anything up or down any considerable angle, is shorter, the two-part design adds bulk, and believe it or not, the first thing I did when I got the SliderOne (which I use more than any other slider) is to write Edelkrone and tell them they needed to design a small panning unit to work with the App .... and they made it! (Yeah, I know, I'm not the only one with the ideas) but I was super stoked to see it become a reality. That and those folding all terrain legs. That bit of kit is a super win, as it's not something one has an excuse to leave behind.

Great work, by the way, again, the semi "reveal" to the lock is part of good stock thinking. I bet you can find other shots in that area.

Thanks ! Yeah sometimes less is more. I think its actually a good thing that the slider is small becouse one has to find angles and perspectives that mayby not regular sliders are used for so the footage might end up being more unique.
Great to hear that they listen to the users. They seem like a very good company for the end user. Fast respons on questions and they have that lifetime warranty deal. It was too good to pass on as i plan on using this slider for many years and dont want to worry about some expensive part inside breaking.

I agree that panning unit seems very cool !

The all terrain legs looks great too but I could not get them atm as the total cost was already at my limit.
I use a tiny Sirui tripod. Posetive thing with the Sirui is it can sit so low to the ground its no problem using the slider verticaly as the legs are spread wide for stability.

Very impressed with the app and what it can do. Also it connects fast and every time ! I have a Syrp Genie Mini for the product studio and it is a pain sometimes. Have to restart it if it does not connect first time. Fine in studio mayby but anoying out in the field.

Btw i made a big boo boo today. The weather was perfect and i only had a few hours so i rushed away to a place.
All seemed too perfect and ofc i forgot my mobile at home ! Could not use the slider.. From now on i will have a checklist for sure hehe.

@ Macromakey I use nothing but Syrp equipment for my videos and have no problems with mini genie app out in the field. Could be either your phone, cell service or firmware.

Jason, yeah mayby somthing is wonky. Will try with another and see if it happens.
