Dji Mavic 2 Pro & Mavic 2 Zoom

Both of these new drones look like a real step up from the original Mavic Pro. Personally I really like the specs of the Pro version with it's 1 inch sensor, adjustable aperture f2.8 - f11 and 10-bit Dlog-M some people are saying it's basically a flying RX100 which is a very tasty proposition indeed!

Interested to hear peoples thoughts and if any, which are you leaning towards?

Yeah as much as I would enjoy that zoom, the Pro version offers a lot more depth for video and photos. The ideal would be the pro version with the zoom added. . . but thats not going to happen anytime soon.

The pro will replace the Phantom 4 Pro handily. Very stoked about this. Wondering if the Mavic 2's batteries are the same as the Mavic 1 .... I have 4 ...

I didn't see it when looking, anyone get the lens focal length equivalent? (on the Pro)

Zoom is neat but doesn't look like it has better codec/sensor than the Mavic 1 really, so ... no. I've got my Inspire 2 with X5s for longer focal length work.

Was bemoaning the lack of ability to take portrait orientation stills ... nice to see they addressed that (do a vertical stitch pano) That was/is one of the most groovy abilities of the Mavic 1.

All the other bells and whistles look pretty cool.

@Mizamook, the equivalent focal length is 28mm, against 24mm for the P4Pro.
I am very tempted by the zoom option, but disappointed to see that there is no variable aperture. That is a huge drawback.
I will probably go for the Pro one. I have a P4Pro and I am not sure the Mavic 2 Pro will be much better in image quality, but the smaller size, less noise and 28mm field of view are a deal maker for me

bought the mavic 2 pro. Didnt need the zoom because I have the inspire with both 24 and 45mm lenses which is very zoomy. my mavic pro 2 arrives tuesday and I have a feeling I'll be selling all the phantom drones. I've always had overheating battery issues with the phantom series batteries.

@Mizamook Pretty sure the batteries are different unfortunately, but they are saying you'll get a longer flight time with the new birds. I sold my Mavic, i figured the longer i leave it the lower the second hand price will go. Now to save for the new Pro.

Yeah, got that. It's too bad. I need to get on that selling bandwagon sooner than later ... knowing me I will likely wait too long (as usual) and basically give the stuff away ... but for me three batteries total always seems to be plenty. Glad to hear the focal length is 28mm rather than 24. That wide P4P always bugged me ... shots look so much more (dare I say it) cinematic and less "droney" with narrower fov. Especially when flying through trees or between stuff.
