Vintage release for video

Hello,
Recently I started digitizing movies in 8mm of family and friends. I would like to be able to use parts of these videos as editorials or commercials, but I can't find an adequate form of release on the site. Some people whose digital material I digitized would agree to let me use it, but I can't get adequate legal feedback.

Thank you.

Hello - I will respond not because I am a lawyer, but because I have a similar interest (stacks of old family regular 8 mm soundless movies). I believe, in discussions from some time ago, that for commercial use, any living person seen in the clips, as usual even giving the passing of time, must sign a regular model release. Anyone that has since died (as in the case of many of our old family home movies), the nearest living relative would have to sign a release for them. But if you find out more, or if this is incorrect, or what constitutes "nearest living relative" or one with the authority, please let me know.
I've had my eye on this device to do it:

But please let me know if you find anything better.
I know my collection has many splices and breaks that need splices, so this will be a slow process. My plan is for next winter when I'm mostly shut indoors.
Also, since the film is nearly square format, and HD and 4K is 16:9, there is a question as to which is preferred: to "fill the frame" and lose some image (top and or bottom clipped off), or use the square images with black pillars on the sides. You could argue either way, and if you search the P5 collections, you will see them both ways.
Thanks, and good luck. -Steve

Hello,
thanks for your opinion. My idea would be to use commercially only parts of films without people in the foreground.
For the scan I use a system similar to the one you saw on B&H, obviously if you want to send me all your films I will digitize them, obviously only if you sign the release =)

Personally I prefer to leave the two black side bands, so as not to lose any part of the image.

Now I just have to arm myself with property releases to be signed by myself and who will ask for the next works.

Thank you.
