Two typical spiral galaxies collide in time lapse. 1 Second of this clip corresponds to 75 Million years (at 25 fps). The viewpoint is in the outer regions of one of the galaxies, potentially the location of the sun in the milky way. That is why there's the typical milky band in the sky. The approaching galaxy might well represent Andromeda, which will run into a collision with the Milky Way in about 4 billion years.

It's a real simulation performed with a N-body code, visualized in Blender.
