YouTube Copyright strike?

This might have been answered or discussed before. Not sure. I'm concerned about purchasing music here, using it as part of a YouTube video that is monetized there, and then getting a copyright struck from YouTube. Has this happened? Was it easily resolved? I've purchased stock music, royalty free, license, the whole thing, and YouTube gave me a strike. I submitted a dispute, provided a receipt, and YouTube still took my monetization away, in some cases gave the revenue to an entity that is not entitled to it.

Thanks for any insight.

It happened to me once ... I submitted the P5 receipt and problem solved. Then I decided to use their own music library.

"Then I decided to use their own music library."

And that, my friend, is precisely why this is something that needs to be dealt with on an industry scale ... it is a huge problem!

For those who don't know, as cinecameratv mentioned, YouTube has its own music library that you can use for YouTube videos. Some of the stuff is pretty good, and there is a Chet Atkins-ish guitar piece I use for many of my videos. There's also stuff like "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by the US Army Band, so there are high-quality recordings of some famous songs that are out of copyright. As far as I know, use of the music that YouTube has is licensed only for use on YouTube. But you can monetize such songs and earn money on them. The library of music is pretty extensive.

And YouTube also has sound effects that are similarly available for use on YouTube.

This is really really bad for people trying to sell music here on Pond5, no? When I browse the youtube collection I can download "free" music .. it's not really free, right? Does the maker get a cut? (from the Adrev). I'm reading David Byrne's excellent book "How Music Works" and just finished a section about how the mega corps (as well as the freeloading concept) are NOT helping the artists put bread on the table, much less butter, even if they are well-known and have awesome fan bases and social media etc. This could explain partially why music sales are down for many?

So having a constant threat of having content or accounts barred or demonetized by Youtube despite receipts, etc, the added necessity/hiccup of having to prove validity is yet another speed bump. Not all projects are destined for Youtube, but it seems many are!

The problem for me is, if I want to use the video on multiple platforms, then I have to use different music. YouTube "approved or provided" music for the video on that site; then use other music on my own website or instagram or something else.

I understand it makes no sense to complain. Still, YouTube is like the mafia. It's their way or no way. To think they make billions, a certain portion of it from simply saying, "Oh, there's no way we can deal with such a huge volume in an individual way."

Oh, well, the Silicon Valley Mafia rules on.

I have a problem with this subject, I am a royalty composer of royaltie free tracks, the problem is that some tracks have been released by people I do not know, and I can not locate ...
I received complaints, and even if I prove the music is mine, someone somewhere in the world registered it ... and I'm being harmed because it makes it very difficult as sales ... and the clients are insecure to buy ...

I sell music free of copyright.
and dishonest people are registering in other names ...

How many "demonetization" services like AdRev exist? And does YouTube mentions it, which of them is it when doing a strike? So the right way as I know is to contact AdRev with your receipt, rather than YouTube. And also, if the uploaded song to these services, like AdRev, is uploaded by the legal owner, you could go straight to him and ask him to send a message to AdRev to remove the claim and they will remove it very soon. Hope this helps

Thanks, Thavma. Good ideas.
