Make "infinite scrolling" on/off checkbox more obvious for people searching

As an editor who searches for clips for my clients, I find the V2 infinite scrolling somewhat overwhelming and not easy to track where you are in the 1,000's of clips that result from a search.

With Version 1's tabs you could easily see if you were halfway through, or 1/10 way through your search results. I could also tell my producer (in another location) to take a look at the clips on row one of tab 6.

I had resorted to going back to V1 for searching. But no more.

Just before I started writing this, I clicked on the tools (gear) icon in upper right of the search results page, and there is an option to turn off "infinite scrolling." That helps, but unlike the old tabbed results that would show whatever number of tabs was needed, this only shows one tab, and allows you to go to the next, or type in a number - 44 - to go to page 44.

I liked the old way better -- a producer could clearly see where they were in the mass. But at the least, the "infinite scrolling" toggle should not be hidden in the tools icon, but plainly visible and available down at the bottom of the page where it asks "load more results."

As one who also sells footage, I think this would make it easier for buyers. It also would appear less like the kitchen sink approach and more organized (even though it's still kitchen sink).

So glad to hear this from yet another buyer's point of view. It makes tremendous sense. All this fancy schmancy stuff is looking to be counterproductive. I too have heard similar comments from other buyers.

I don't like infinite scrolling. If you click on a file that was FAR down, then hit the browser's BACK button, sometimes you lose your place. Plus, if you scroll WAY down, it makes the browser sluggish.

Perhaps make it NOT the default.

I agree,
infinite scrolling makes things confusing. If I want to stop looking at clips and go to the bottom of the page for the links; more clips come up and I end up trying to get to the links below faster than more clips appear - the clips always win ;-)

Absolutely. The infinite scrolling is style over usability, seemingly designed by people who have never had to buy anything on a site like this. I used to buy some music and sound effects hear but with this scrolling nonsense I don't anymore for 2 main reasons. First, as said before, it's nearly impossible to know where you are and thus go back to items you scanned earlier, Second, and to me more importantly, it controls how I search: like many people I often approach the results with a 'show me something I haven't seen before' attitude. With a page based results delivery I can jump straight to page 15 or whatever, or maybe look through every 3rd page if there are loads of results (and with a growing library there more often is). With the infinite scroll I can only see results in the order that some piece of software lets me. If I'm in a hurry I just won't scroll through hundreds or thousands of results to find something different.

To those sellers here that also means that your views and buys are completely at the mercy of the search algorithm - if a given search returns say 2000 results and for that search your material is in the latter half, it probably won't be seen. With a page delivery the are many buyers like me who will delve further into the results and find material irrespective of where the software says it should be simply because you can jump to pretty much anywhere within the results.

I've been looking for a way to switch it off since it was introduced!

I think an artist told us how to turn the scroll off, can't find it . Can someone post where the option to turn the scroll off is located in this mess of confusion again.

Hey Don, the settings wheel to the right of the "Sort By" box on the search results page will drop down a menu, and you can click to turn off the infinite scroll there.

WOW, I hate to say it and hurt someones feeling ... but .... that is the stupidest place in the world to put that option. It should be under "preference" where it makes more sense. The scroll was a problem even before or not even in the search mode. The main screen was affected not just search results. It was almost impossible to get to the "forum" button on the bottom of the page. Been here with P5 since the beginning when a good suggestion was implemented in the pages within minutes. Now after all these years it is a nightmare to navigate, I get lost daily trying to easily go to options that sellers use. If I was a buyers I would definitely be going to other agencies if their interface is getting as bad as the sellers one.

Please take this as a constructive criticism, it just getting more confusing with each change. I'm all for good changes, change is good, some of the changes that are cosmetic or helping us with data are great, the interface for keywording, forum, and many other things brought up by many artists are just not efficient or easier.

Maybe use some of the money spent on this re-programming in decrease review times as promised and then the rest of available cash on marketing. There sure sounds like a lot of sellers and now some buyers trying to use V1 again (and now it's not useable after it was pulled then returned as many artists requested) ... oh my.

P5 is the King of sales, but as stated in the other thread by many, is losing ground, it's not because we needed V2. Still waiting for European market for footage ... any progress as other agencies are pushing hard into Europe.

Don the time to get all worked up about change is on the 15th of the month and find that you were paid in Rubles.

Not worked up at all, just getting tired of having to spend more time to figure out how to use the once easiest, fastest and simplest stock footage agency as far as an seller side. Seems like it takes far more clicks to do anything now. We all wanted a facelift 1 1/2 years ago, mostly just simple page graphic changes since it was getting very stale; without all the fluff and navigation problems now. I have yet to hear anyone say the changes have made it easier, more intuitive, faster and more responsive for the seller. I guess a new artist might think its ok, those who have been here for years see a more difficult transition and time consuming format.

Sales are great, no problem there, just the loss of artist control and ease is going the wrong way. Heck I don't care if I get paid in Rubles, Yen, or gold bullion ... It all converts to what I need ;)
