How do you those multi frames which have up to 9 movies of various sizes playing in one frame, that contributor Spotmatic does so well.

Others refer to the TV show 24 hours with the split frames.

Just curious what software could do this.

Adobe After Effects can do it.

When I search for tutorials, I don't find any that come close to showing this idea.

what is it called... what to search for... :-P. I want to know too!!!! How hard is it to do?

It is called pan and crop in Sony Vegas. You can literally place and size the footage anywhere on the frame. Then you add another track and do the same again, then repeat as many times as you wish. so if you have 5 videos running in the frame, you will need 5 tracks and so on. It really is a very simple process and absolutely no magic behind it. With this feature you can also do special effects for example where you could have yourself talking to yourself by splitting the screen. I know MAgix can do it and would assume all the other NLE products can do it as well.

In After Effects it's too easy to have a tutorial, I will give you the whole tutorial in one sentence. Drag footage to new comp, go to the footage on the time, hit s for scale, size, hit P for position...

What program do you guys use though, I'm sure someone here has experiance with it

I use Vegas, to get the black borders around the clips in the frames, I presume you have to have a black background as one track?

Thanks Vader, I'm starting to get it.

Norman,
Here is one that I did a month or so ago.

I did it in After Effects. Make a new composition the size of your finished clip, and drag your clips in it, resize them and move them where you want it.
