Editing footage software

MPEG Streamclip won't open AVCHD files either.

Having used Magix Movie Edit Pro for a couple of weeks I am finding that the exported movie (even set at 100% quality) never looks the same as the version you are editing. It always looks darker and overly contrasty. Also, no audio seems to play either. I am also finding that when trying to export an edited file of around 25 seconds, it only saves about a tenth of a second of the footage hence the rendering doesn't happen (usually see a progress bar when exporting)

When I used to have a Canon HF11 that created AVCHD files, I used QuickTime Pro to convert them to MOV files for editing.

My issue isn't MOV files, I am trying to export H.264 but can only do this if I de-select "key frame" (whatever that means) which is what I am currently doing. The different video codecs, formats etc are very complex. Photo is so much simpler.

I think you need to ask your question in a Magix Movie Edit Pro forum. I use Sony's Vegas Studio Platinum 12, so I cannot help you. Most guys here use high end professional editors.

Well I have been advised on this very forum to use Magix Movie Edit Pro (professional) > I am trialing Vegas Studio Platinum 12 but so far I don't rate it compared to Magix.

I made a test Jpeg of before and after Magix rendering. There is not much of different I can tell except after's dark area is brighter.

You have been advised yourself on testing other software too. Have you try other program? Video is another world than photography, it need deeper learning. You can't expect people holding your hand to learn! Professional program is even more complex than Magix. May be QuickTime is the easiest for you, (for stock purpose you really don't need professional program because you need simple cutting and delete the sound track only) but they don't provide test version, do they?

Good Luck...

## You can export the film to single Jpeg by yourself to test the result.

'' I export my film to .264 in MOV container

I think Magix is pretty good but for the life of me all through this trial I cannot get audio to play/export in the video file. Audio will be important in some of my footage so not sure it is for me.

Another thing I would like is more control over tones, contrast, temp like in Lightroom. Magix has some basics but for the nitty gritty its not that comprehensive.

You really can't beat an Adobe CC subscription for $50/month (full suite) or $25/month (video editing suite).

I still can't understand why I am getting no audio in Magix
