Adobe CC vs CS6

I see a $29.99 CS upgrade to CC but don't see a $15.99 yet.

Ahhhh yes it's a student and teacher discount for 12 moths.

I am a 60 year old student :-)

Technically, you're not supposed to use a student or teacher version for commercial use. But then again, I'm not the software police. (But this is a public forum....)

But, I don't understand why people who use this software daily for business are griping over $50/month. If you can't make your money back each month, then you're in the wrong business.

Plus, like Jake said, it's a business write-off (for those of us who actually count this as a legal business).

I totally agree with ODesigns,

Originally we were a tad naffed off with the renting prospect, but two big things made us jump. No1, we wanted to upgrade and did not want the initial capex of Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Lightroom (although we had 5) and Photoshop. The cost of $130 a month for three seats of Creative cloud is a no brainier, especially when you place them over 4-5 years, considering upgrade gaps for us. The second point is we're in the process of re-tooling for 4K workflows, mean we're switching from PC's to MAC Pros. As a result of our CC licenses, we do not need to purchase different software, we're entitled to both PC and MAC version for each seat, it's a case of removing the PC and add in the new Workstation.

We've never looked back and as the poster before me mentioned, operational expense vs capex, its a win win situation for us.

Great point! At work, we're in the (very slow) process of moving to Mac from Windows. And on those workstations I've already converted, all we had to do is reinstall the CC suite--no need for paperwork from Adobe to "transfer" a Windows license to a Mac.

Easy peasy.

Plus, you get all the updates as they come out, AND access to ALL Adobe's products. Can't beat it.

I, too, was in the "honeymoon" period of $29.99/month the first year, and I admit, moving to the regular pricing stung a little, but that wears off once you realize all the great stuff you get.

Yes , totally forgot about the move to Mac license thing.
I too have thought about moving to Mac in the past but the thought of buying another Adobe license was out of the question.
Now I just have to buy the hardware and I'm good to go.

For me and I believe most it's not the cost but what is the true improvements in workflow and capability. I did upgrade to CC. But I believe MOST artists will have everything they need with CS6. CS6 was a huge improvement over CS5 and below.

I've got Cs5.5 on one machine and CS6 on the other. Master editions, both. I guess it'll be a few years before I really consider going CC. Way pay monthly for a software when what you got is working fine? Plus my "workhorses" are not connected to the net, nor will they ever be. Best maleware protection there is: Online? Not even once. :D

For everyone worried about the student version used commercially:

http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/education-faq.html
From adobe it says:
Can I use Student and Teacher Edition products commercially?
Yes, Student and Teacher Edition products can be used commercially on your privately owned computer. They may not be resold.

So you can't resell the products you buy with the teacher discount, but you can use the products for commercial use...

Do you not need any sort of teacher or student status verification?
