LLP Licenses

Hello. What is an LLP License applied to a item sale?

I have an item that cost 25$ and somebody bought with an LLP license and I received only 1.76$ 0_o

Anybody know this type of license and why its low seller benefits?

Hey R3GeneralMedia,

If you received a sale labeled LLP, then it means it came from our Limited License Program (LLP), which you're opted in to. These sales are usually for bulk amounts of Content with a very limited license to be purchased by new Corporate Buyers who have never bought from us, therefore a discounted pricing.

More details can be found under Section 7 of our Contributor Agreement: Global Partner and Limited Use Licensing Programs. https://www.pond5.com/legal/contributor/20170301

The goal and hope are always to generate new customers and more sales for you. Just like our Global Partner Program, LLP is another exciting business opportunity for our contributors.

With this Program, we still give you the control to choose to remain opted-in to this extra revenue stream, or you may completely opt out. This can be changed at any time by removing the checkmark in your Preferences page (https://www.pond5.com/my-preferences).

I hope this helps. Please email us at support@pond5.com if you have any other questions, or if we can assist with anything else!

Ryan, as I'm getting next to zero sales I'm wondering if you could show data that strongly illustrates how opting into GPP and LLP would do anything to help boost "regular" sales. I'd be very curious. Could really use a boost! Thanks.

I know nothing about those programs boosting your sales. But they sure help in filling the pockets of those partners and we get the crumbs. Guess R3GeneralMedia just found out what his/her work is worth.

I know .. I feel the same way, and always have. But not even getting crumbs at this point feels pretty crappy. I'm probably getting more than others, so should not complain. Also suspect (based on total lack of sales on SS before I quit there and lack of sales on AS of late) that my stuff is just not in demand at all these days, so I should just sit tight.

My big problem with LLP sales, and their ilk from other agencies, is that when videos are sold like this, there’s so little control as to who they end up and what happens to them. Who, specifically, are these third parties buying at such low prices? What does Pond5 do to protect contributor copyright once videos have left the building? How are contributor payouts calculated? The whole setup is clouded in mystery, yet Pond5 persists with its corporate sales spin to weary contributors, by describing the possibilities as ‘exciting’.

"Exciting" indeed. SS tried to get people "excited". They got excited. Then they exited. I hate corporate buzzspeak too. I wonder if they actually believe their own jargon?

Regarding control, too .. this industry is one, if not THE only one, selling digital format media with no control, yet accepting of "refunds". All software/media I ever buy has a pretty strict "Once downloaded/activated, you cannot return the product" policy. Doesn't work that was for stock media, does it? So our prices should reflect that reality.

I would be (and in fact have been) open to lowering my own prices for select specific requester(s) of such. If I make that decision it actually feels good. Hell, I give it away for free. But I end up with new friends/contacts and new "exciting" opportunities. It is not done lightly, but it makes more sense. I wish we had real control.
