Adding categories via CSV file upload

Hello! Adding data to files via CSV is one of the most convenient features of Pond5. But I've got some problem with adding categories. Only single word categories in CSV affects footage data. If there is More than one word in category it's ignored by Pond5. For example categories "industry" and "medicine" been added successfully. And such categories as "animals-or-wildlife" are ignored. I tried "animals / wildlife" too, but result is same. What can I do to solve this problem?

You can use category numbers or category names, it depends on which column you prefer working off of.

The category numbers can be found in the column KeywordsCheckbox. It might be handy if Pond5 posted a matrix of category names to category numbers in the FAQ, but you can make your own from the CSV.

Or use two sets of double quotes for category names. The column KeywordsCheckboxTranslated uses two sets of double quotes around each category name like this: ""buildings and monuments""

If your spreadsheet software is adding a set of quotes automatically, then just put one set of quotes in the spreadsheet and the spreadsheet software will add the second set. If you're on a PC, check the CSV by opening it in Notepad and see what it looks like to see if that's working.

Someone else has such problem with several words categories? No answer from support too.

Error: CSV File field must have a value
Can you show, what field?
May be it is about maximum 1350 lines in CSV.

Truncate keywords not working
Error: Too many keywords (51), 50 is max.

I would recommend using Open Office for managing the CSV. It is a free program available from www.openoffice.org

When the Open Office program opens the Pond5 CSV, set it to:

Character Set: UTF-8
Separated by: Comma
Text Delimiter: "

With these settings the categories should work fine. Here is a sample from one of my clips from the column

KeywordsCheckboxTranslated

"buildings and monuments" "scenics (urban)" "transportation" "contains people" "6 or more people" "time lapse" "medium shot" "wide angle lens" "low angle" "color" "natural lighting" "contemporary" "2000s" "day" "interior"

The first three entries above are the subject categories.

Tip: save the original CSV from Pond5 as a backup and then edit only a copy of the file. If things go wrong you can upload your backup CSV and restore the data to its original state.

Hey Pond5, it would be real nice if you could publish the numerical equivalents for all the categories and parameters in the KeywordsCheckbox column so we don't have to memorize stuff like KCA0201 KMI0701 KCT0119 KPE0001. (Thanks for your consideration).
