Is the Panasonic HDC-HS9 any good for a home camera?

Anyone have this, or tried it?

It's a good camera overall, but it's not without its share of cons. It took me a couple of weeks to work out a system for converting and editing the footage because the AVCHD format hasn't been widely adopted yet, especially by the big professional softwares. I have to use Pinnacle Studio 12 to convert the H.264 streams into AVI files before I can import them into my editing softwares. A thirty-minute clip can be several hundred gigabytes, so a large dedicated hard drive is a must if you plan to do any time-lapse stuff (which is my main type of footage). Once you get your personal procedure down, everything falls into place, but you might tear some of your hair out on the way there. My main point is, you can't just import the footage and start editing it, there's an intermediate conversion, and this can be time-consuming. I used to process several clips a day in SD, but now I'm lucky if I can finish one in a day. In short, I like the camera, but we had a rocky start...

Thanks. This is mostly for family use (my step-daughter likes to make movies and the wife wants something better for soccer games).
