Photo pricing theory

Hello all, I want to share what I have found out so far about selling images on Pond 5. I have been trying to crack this code for a while now. Over time I have slowly raised my image prices, at first I did not even price them I just stuck with the default $5. However as I sold images I raised the prices up.. fast forward to today. Yesterday I raised all of my prices to $45 for all of my images on my non exclusive account, this one as I think I can get more bang for the buck. I got to thinking, if you wanted to buy a license to an image what is the threshold these days, and perhaps an average? I arrived at $50, understand by signing up to an agency often times its a contract thing so that cheap image over time will become more expensive in the long run. Everywhere I have looked the average going price is $50, somehow someway. That being said I am $5 cheaper than the going average. I actually sold an image today, however you should be aware that if the buyer oh yeah, thank you buyer :) , that what you sell it for depends on the size of image the buyer selects, in my case it was a XL so my cut was $7.63, still really good for the image game. Only time will tell if my theory is correct. Man just thought I would share, it is NOT written in stone for crying out loud, it is MY own personal opinion based off research and results. I hope to touch back and let you all know if the pricing strategy works.
