Shutterstock bought Pond5 in order to reduce contributor earnings and increase their profitability. From 60% to 40% is just the beginning. Pond5 will now reflect the Shutterstock contributor earnings. Shutterstock pays 15% – 40% royalties

Shutterstock is evil, plain and simple.
When Pond5 sold out to Shutterstock, they sold out their artists.
Which I guess is their prerogative; I'm sure the P5 owners saw the writing on the wall with the race to the bottom in human-generated stock content, and sold while they could still get a decent price.
