Mac Pro Monitor - ACD alternatives?

Hi,
This is one for the "fruit community" :): I am looking for a new monitor for my Intel Mac Pro, but the problem I am having is that
-I do not really share Mr. Jobs glossy vision of the future...
-the 23 inch matte display is pretty hard to find, at least new
-the 30 inch is a bit too large and too costly (I pay 2x BH prices for Apple stuff in Argentina...:(
Does anybody have positive experiences with a 3rd party monitor for the mac, like the Dell Ultrasharps? It should have an IPS panel and full HD resolution (preferably 1920x1200). Or are Apple about to release a new series of monitors anytime soon?
