AcmeStudios, Ha ha! You must have missed the post from the guy who shoots in MP4 but re-encodes his material to ProRes for upload to Pond5. So maybe that ProRes really isn't ProRes, and it's already been re-encoded once.

Beckhusen, I said congrats for $4K on Youtube. It's still a good earning. But as you said, I absolutely agree with 50$ for a single 4k video is quiet low price range.

Nope, I'm a fulltime videographer in here, shooting for corporates and shortmovies, so only use Youtube for my showreel and portofolio. And selling footages in here is a different world from my daily jobs, so I still need to learn a lot in here.

Just startet learning, i'm married with an indonesian wife and sometimes we make holidays in Bali and Flores. I'm surprised and enjoyed that somebody from Indonesia is on board here ;)
I don't believe that YT brings sales. In all the years i got only 1 request for a footage clip at YT. My experience at YT and photo communities is that people will have all for free ;)
And really, ...... who pays money for a clip which has gone viral and is shared by everybody everywhere before ???
Don't know what you think to have to learn here, maybe only best tagging and description, but i think last not least the "Related Results" generate sales (or not). As a "fulltime videographer for corporates" we can learn from you!

I'm from Semarang, sometimes you should take your time to get here, I can take both of you just walk around here. So where did your wife come from?
As my experience, I never get any sales from Youtube (and no plan for get any sales though), but there was some people contacted me after saw my YT channel and made some enquiries.
But... The realworld market is really different in here compare to you place as example, it's not easy to get settlement in here, the price range, cultures, etc, you need to have extra effort to educate your clients. So I decided to going here, to make an extra income source, then I come here.

Social media sharing, as somebody here wrotes before, produces only new and more contributors. The effort in sharing and so on is in no relation to a possible income. Even if there are from time to time requests, how often may it result in a real sale. And more about this, how many emails to share with the possible client and the effort to write a sensefull contract?
I tried this all. Stock marketing and portfolio promotion at YT, Vimeo, Pinterest, Flickr, created business themed websites, ...... it's wasting time and a lucky punch isn't worth this overall effort. Real constant sales happens only here.
