Any Pro musicians here ?

As I am new here, I am Just wondering if anyone here is a PRS member or other pro organisation and if so, do you find the sales here are worth not earning any royalty revenue.

I have never seen pro musicians in the forums, just sound FX members. I guess you have to go to the music files, identify some successful musicians and email them directly. Almost all people in the forums are video guys.

I do music semipro...eh. However I am not a member of an organization. I have worked on royalty songs with other people and I worked in a guitar shop.

my RF music on here is not very good, I make my RF songs pretty quick. I can do good music when I spend 4 days on a song, but I doont do that for stock. IMO footage is easier and more profitable. Music takes so long to make it good, and the prices are pretty low, however it is good practice.

Hey, I am a member of a PRO.

Personally I do both. As I am non exclusive my tracks sell here (really well in comparison to other sites online), but then I also work with some models where I only get royalties and no up front sync fee. I am happy to be a part of Pond 5, and appreciate that I will see probably no future PRO royalties, but that is not a problem as the sales add up to a nice monthly figure.

I nearly have 1000 music tracks on here now, and it is really starting to roll!

That's interesting because I was told that if I was a member of a Pro (PRS) I can't sell royalty free music as the contract with the Pro gives them the right to collect on all music works. If only Pond5 had the option of a Pro on the files then buyers would be aware of which tracks they are buying. I am on another royalty free site selling music very well (I don't here) and they have the option of Pro music as well as royalty free and I find that my Pro music sells the best.

I will check out your music Catch22. Very impressive if you have 1000 files here. I really need to up my income and sales from standard music libraries do not deliver. Sadly, this is the way it is going. Pile em high and sell em cheap. If that's the way I am going to have to survive to make money then so be it.

Hi my name is Charlie Mac, a music producer/composer/publisher. I had over 120 placements last year alone, with brands like, MTV, VH1, BIO, GOOGLE, TIME, etc. This year we've already had over 40 placements for film and TV. We also did a sub-publishing deal with a major distributor in Europe for over 200 hundred songs, and another deal for 160 titles for Discovery Networks. We have a new Ebook, and would like to share some music licensing strategies with artists who are serious about their careers.
