Time Lapse Demo Reel 2012

Thanks, I need to be harder on myself. I've definitely been shortening fades. This particular piece will act for me both as a demo reel for timelapse/nature (better than nothing, which is what I have now) and also a visual for this song. The other pieces which are just jumbles of ideas in my mind now will be for other "generalized" topics in my portfolio. They will actually be more difficult, beside the fact that I haven't invented the music yet, but that they are not supposed to be so, well, timelapse-y.

I felt like Rudi's work was following the Koyaanisquatsi idea...since I am working in a similar way right now I could "see" the thread or story...at least that aspect of it is what I got out of it. Establishing shot, involvement/exploration, conflict, detail, resolution, pull back, poetic ending. I don't have any such insinuations, but am trying to make sense of cuts like, say, a close-up of a fireweed blossom to mountain peaks. Can't just jump from one to the other!

I wonder what we will see next from RWM-Media?

Hey – wow! Thanks for all your feedbacks!

Let’s talk a bit. I definitely wants to go against the mainstream about length and superfast cut’s. Time lapse a mostly quick and nervous. I want to give the demo a bit more flow and tranquility. That’s why I use a quiet song and a bit longer cuts. I also think that a lot of time lapse work better with a bit more time.

The pan and (let it) run shot was perfect (for me) to start the reel with the music. After that I have to find a transition to the “global warming” or storm theme at the beginning. That’s why I use the (little epic) dark sun/clouds and rays shot. You are right with the two “sun and only clouds” –shots. They are pretty similar and the second is redundant but where the heck you guys see a shake??? Which shot or at what time?

Thanks again!
Rudi

The very short clip at 1:59, it's a shake or some thing it might even be some thing with the time lapse, or the way the clouds move. I have watched it 3 times and each time I'm seeing some thing in there that doesn't look right. Get some more eyes on it though, see if anyone else notices. Do you have a link to the original clip? Scrubbing this online is an annoyance

You're having an optical allusion Bryan. Between the clouds rolling over the peaks and light changes reflecting off the peaks it looks like the clip has unintended (jumps) motion where there is none.

Runs nice and smooth here and also on YouTube for me. Maybe it’s that what jason mentioned. The demo is only on YouTube online and not on my server, sorry. Here is the original (single) clip:

Hey HDStockVideoo, thanks for showing your Reels in this thread. ;-) Next time you can add also a comment on this threads topic?
Some pretty nice shot’s in there. Like a lot of them. Looks like you enjoy to travel! The Reels showing exactly what I mean with “against mainstream” and “quick and nervous”! I try to show a bit more flow and tranquility on this kind of shots. Anyway, nice Reels!

That does look much better, glad it ended up not being an error. Sorry if I spooked you, some times youtube doesn't play as smoothly for me so it can be really hard to know for sure what the problem is or if there is one, and forget about scrubbing some thing without it being really annoying. That's a great shot, it's feels like you could almost touch the clouds.
