Little help please :) Newbie views/sales/medium portfolio etc...

Hey there! I'm Mirko Pernjakovic aka Mirkic. I'm new here :) Well, I'm new everywhere since I ended my IS life of six years - this January. So I got some newbie questions and please don't hesitate to bang on like you do to a newbie :) Also, I did browsed the forums and found some answers but not all of them. Just to say that I'm not lazy or wanting answers on a silver plate...
The thing is regarding stuff I don't understand but I just wanted to ask (please, just give me some "proximity" answers) are the "stats" correct in "upload" section of the site? I got 2000 files approved and I got only one file with 12 views and those views happened few days after the file was approved. And 3 cart adds (other three files). And that's it! No sales, no nothing. I'm not complaining, please don't take this in that manner, I'm just curious is this the "proper way" that things are happening on P5? Does it take time for clips to "spin" and start getting views/sales? I wouldn't ask even this If I saw views but no views is just freaking me out a bit :) Also, my portfolio is not that commercial, it's like 60% nature and 40% people. Keywords may be the problem but I'm willing to wait for a few months to see if there is that "waiting period" for clips to start getting views and, please God, sales also and then to re-check keywords :) I've posted a similar question at SS (other questions but similar topic) just for all of you that are reading here and there :) Don't wanna be labeled as spammer or something like that :) Oh, and my portfolio is live for almost a month. If that matters.

Thanks people!
Mirko

It takes time. I've been here since the beginning and I find that new uploads do take longer to be viewed or purchased. The data stats used to be good, now I'm not sure they are really valid anymore. The views need 3-5 views before they show any. Many of us get sales long before any views show. With the largest portfolio of footage than any other agency there is a lot of choices for buyers. Keep uploading, a month is not long. I just glanced at your portfolio, the work looks good and pricing good. Sales will come. Good Luck.

Thanks a lot RekindlePhoto! Fast answer from you and a delayed answer from me :) I was hoping that the answer would go that way... That it takes time! Thanks again!

Welcome Mirko,
I thought I recognized you from IS

From my experience like Don said, I find it takes a couple of months in some cases before new video gets sold or even viewed sometimes.

Thanks guys! I hope I'll do good here. Hope for better times ahead! And regarding patience and calmness - there's still a lot of those in me :)

Cool, Mirkic. So you left IS completely? You definitely have a lot of great images. I hope your transition goes sweetly.

Welcome to Pond 5 Mirko. I don't pay too much attention to the stats, but I do scroll through the "Sales Data" section of my uploads just to check out "Cart Adds"...I'd say about 50% of the time a cart add ends up as a sale. Maybe others have better odds than me.

@brandonaaron
Yes and no. I'm still audio exclusive there cause right now I get more money from selling SFX's there and pp program (apple/getty) then selling video and photos altogether (at Istock). Also, there are still some good people at audio department there and it seems that they still haven't been manipulated/bossed around/ordered/whatever/ to do this and that (bad deals and cheap blows that Istock has been tossing in the last three years) and are doing a good job (regarding the whole atmosphere there etc). But that's also a mixed bag. I cannot firmly stand behind those claims but I'm saying that there are people there still willing to do fair business and others that goes around it!
Video - that's another story! I could never, ever do anything more than what I did until January no matter how much and what content I uploaded. Confess - it's not extra/mega/turbo/prime/ portfolio that I have but I was earning the same amount of money in 2008 till 2012. Month after month, from 1 clip till 2000 clips... same amount of money or lower... I could never, ever breach a certain amount that was in my head or could I go above amount that someone over there wrote under my name (I'm sure that exist at IS). When Getty got our clips at their site, there was a slight movement and some months last year were the same as Istock's monthly income (video) but when Getty income went up, Istock went down and vice versa... soooo, it's rigged :))) Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong all the time :) Also, I'm including my audio and photo earnings in this so video just got lower and lower and lower earnings/downloads over the years. No reason for me to stay there anymore. I'm still getting Getty roller coaster royalties that can be 20$ this month and the next can be 500$ or more. So no brainier there... Dropped video and photo exclusivity :) I also hope that "transition" goes well but I'm a bit lost and a bit puzzled what exists in the world besides Istock... scary! Thanks for having a look at my port! Nice website btw. And love the Golden Gate Waves.

@MichaelWard
Thanks Michael! Well, I'm trying to figure out how this place is functioning and I'm hoping to achieve that in the next six months or so :) I got four cart adds and two clips with views on them :) Yeeeey! Thanks for the tips!

Ooook! Got my first P5 sale this morning! 60$! And it was one of the clips added to cart one or two days ago. Btw that number went to 8 clips (added to cart) in several days... hope this continue!

Anyways, wont be bothering with new sales anymore just wanted to share : )
