Canon 5D MK IV

Anyone tried the 5D MK IV yet? Trying to decide if it would make a good backup body to my 1DX MK II. I like the specs. Worst things seems like rolling shutter. I know it was dummied down from the 1DX MK II, that is expected and no surprise.

We had high hopes the 5dmk4 would be our next camera. Well, it disappointed us. We'll probably go after 1dxmk2 as main camera and leave our current a7s+shogun as backup, unless something else might step in front.

To expensive for what it is

I waited for years just hoping the iv would be a worthwhile upgrade. I was very disappointed. The GH5 should be announced on Monday so we'll see what that brings. The latest rumors on that camera look pretty impressive (10 bit 422 internal recording!). I plan to hang on to my 5d mark iii for photography jobs but I think I am going to jump ship from canon. The only thing that keeps me interested in them at this point is the dual pixel autofocus. Just because of that I have considered the 1dx ii but its just too much money for me to justify when I am doing extremely well selling clips from my $1500 gh4 and $500 gopro. I am sure I would love the image quality but would it actually make any difference with sales? I don't know.

Starting to think I might hang on to my Canon XF305 for another year......not sure if that's a good idea or not though. I went from a full size back breaking TV camera, XDCAM, and then to the XF305 which is the size of a football and I got it when it came out and believe me I got laughed at by co-workers, the engineering department and the news director and now people look at me like I am 90 years old if I show up at an event with the "huge" XF305, everyone else uses a normal camera....a DSLR.

Just announced the Gh5. It will have 10 bit 422 internal recording and up to 4k at 60p. Only downside is that it won't be shipping until Q1 or Q2 of 2017. Guess I will just keep waiting.

Apparently no ibis and we dont know anything about the dr and noise, but regardless i think that this might be the metabones/canon S35 camera for me, not all these sony shit toys i've been tinkering with all year long.

Gcrook, can you please name the sony toys and explain why you did not like them?

Well there are not many things to say about the a6300 for instance,I can use it 9/12 months at best for short clips given the rather warm climate here and thankfully i can always sharpen the hideously soft hd a bit but i cant do much about the horrendous rolling shutter other than using the cam locked down and hoping that even then a light breeze wont reach it since the most gentle touch causes rolling shutter in 4K.
That cam does jello even by staring at it vigorously.

The RX10 II i have sold since and it wasnt all crap to be honest sometimes it was a very good camera especially the slow motion and the very convenient lens but i never considered it a camera that i would keep like i have done with my canons.Plenty of different reasons really, regarding sensor, ergonomics, weight and mass (had gimbal issues) etc. Also way too overpriced and still is.

The Sony A7SII i dont own, a buddy of mine does which i use occasionally, and it's propably the most decent of the bunch if it weren't for the overheating, the hideous iso noise at 100fps regardless of exposure, and the frustrating high iso noise bug in s-log that sony propably wont fix since they would really like to see people buying an A7RII in addition.
