Is this New York City?

I looked for the woolworth building and did not see anything of the right proportions.

the empire state building changes shape near the base, the building in this video changes shape almost halfway up. definitely not the empire state building, and not manhattan,

I think it is a river, an the person is standing on the other side of the river, and the object to the left might be a bridge. the object is high enough for boats to pass under, and if you look closely you can see 2 or more evenly spaced vertical posts.

there is a strange structure to the immediately right of the bridge, a horizontal piece that goes across between two buildings, similar to the Tower Bridge, although this cant be the tower bridge. I dd think it might be the tower of london behind the bridge, but I cant see how it is.

also I suspect it might be after the 1930s.

ah-ha! michael ward, tiberio & co. thanks for your sleuthing. it's definitely chicago. i have another clip of a yacht from the same reel that's docked at navy pier. (after comparing the architecture with navy pier photos).

the large building that i was mistaking for the the NYC woolworth building appears to be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/680_N_Lake_Shore_Drive in Chicago. Built in 1926, it was, at the time, the 'largest building in the world'! (according to wikipedia).

stock footage is always teaching me a thing or two.
