I guess it comes down to this. If on your lunch hour, you stay on your account page doing your keywording, how would anyone see what was on the Pond5 home page? If your IT department decides to search through Pond5 to see what's there, they'll find it whether it's in an adult section or not. You can't expect Pond5 to eliminate all nudity or they would lose alot of their customers. I'm done now talking about this subject.
sftigress 13 Jan 2014 18:34
Yes but they may not have a reason to search if it isn't blatantly displayed. I don't expect them to ban all nudity. That isn't the argument.

Andy, why do the liberals all think that no one can say anything against what they believe but they have the right to keep talking. The fact is P5 has already made the decision years ago to make the filter. With all the program changes (that you were so vocal about the problems) the filter stopped working. I have received numerous contacts from P5 this last week apologizing and promising that they were working to re-activate the long standing filters. It was suggestions not only on the front page bu ta a discovery that none of the filters are now working. P5 has decided. To show the things we are talking about would be a change announcement and not a programing error. This has nothing to do with 1st amendment or censorship. It is helping P5 with suggestions on programming errors that they have admitted were made wrong lately. The argument from those who want nudity on the front page would be to get P5 to change their minds about showing it ... on purpose and not by mistake. The number of businesses that would block P5 is far larger than you believe. I seriously doubt P5 would advertise to all buyers that P5 now displays full frontal nude on front page and in unfiltered searches. If you want that then I suggest that is where the arguments should go, a change to purposely allow it. It is not a minority, the original posts had several artists highlight the problem. It's only two now who are making a big deal about it. It's not a voting matter, P5 has spoken, thanks. If they change their mind I'm sure we will all be notified via a new Splash. Now let's stop this crap of attacking because people disagree. Keep it a business discussion.

We all agree that nudity should not be banned. It should be filtered for kids and business reason. The filter windows are now very large in-your-face windows ... kinda hard to miss. Now they just need to make more of the filter work to show and not to show as the viewer desires.

Yes Don - "let's all stop attacking" So why are you attacking liberals? On what basis? And what does that have to do with this? And why do you keep implying that I have "been so vocal about the problems"? It seems to me that you are waiting for any reason to attack anyone by the above (last) commentary. But again, I suppose you know best and shall always have the last word regardless of topic.Bottom line, I am sure P5 is working diligently on fixing bugs and I am also very sure they have a list of priorities in regards to which ones get attention first. Be patient, relax and go have some fun in the snow. It seems you are aggravating yourself for some reason. And one last time, I support Pond5 in whatever they do as I believe they do things based on business decisions, not based on squeaky wheels or knee-jerking commentary. I am somewhat dumbfounded that you only rant and rave here on P5 and not on any of the other agencies.

Andy and Slim,
Telling another female artist that she needs to wear a berka is inflammatory and childish. No one attacked either one of you as far as character, person or capability. In this world liberal or conservative are standard and accepted descriptions of basic beliefs, moral or chosen standards. Both are proud of their beliefs and core feelings. Andy whenever pricing threads were discussed you always added a dead horse being beat with a stick, now you are one of the most vocal in the 4K pricing thread. No one is attacking you. Quote from you; "But again, I suppose you know best", yes Andy when it comes to personal attacks you thrive on it. You didn't like the terms that many use "cheaper or consumer cameras" in a thread that you had no business commenting in so instead of you turn personal and then after starting the fight and adding personal insults and slander then you delete you comments. Pathetic. Last word, let's see, can you stop the personal attacks and give good valid accepted proof that nudes on the front page of any site other than a porno site is financial a good business decision. Apparently P5 doesn't think so, they continue to say it was an error they are working to correct. This was brought up by several other artists. It was additional information of the entire filter not working correctly not just explicit. So Andy argue with P5 not us, it's P5 decision and they made it years ago. There is no argument from anyone but ya'll on right or wrong. We accepted P5 decision now ya'll want to fight over nothing. It's a filter error, not a decision on what to show.

Those who have added to this regarding a broken filter have not attacked anyone. Yes, Andy can't stay on subject no matter what. Start the personal BS. Andy you mean so little that your ideas are meaning less, ya can't make me or anyone feel bad. The king of rant and slander, congratulations Andy you win. And of course no rant and rave from Andy on V2 problems ... oh ya he deleted them ;)

I bet Andy can't go a week let alone six months without personally belittling people he disagrees with. No fact, no business sense no financial or professional reasons, just personal attacks. No one in this thread attacked anyone personally who believes that P5 is wrong to filter nudes. Yet we are told to put our women in berkas or that it's a first amendment violation. Oh so sad it can't stay on topic and have a professional discussion. So throw some more meaningless slander... last word ... we'll see bet ya can't stay on subject of this thread or any other.

"Then we should call for all women to wear burkas so as not to offend our Arab neighbors." I was not calling for female artists to wear burkas. I was making a satirical point about political correctness. I said all women. What offends one, does not offend everyone. I agree that if it is Pond5 policy to filter sensitive material, then they should make sure they are working correctly.

"Yes but they may not have a reason to search if it isn't blatantly displayed" My point on this was that if you are just keywording, it would not be blatantly displayed for anyone to see. Now everyone have a nice day!!

Wow!
Slimm..When I log in I go on the home page. I can't just get to my portfolio. If that were the case I wouldn't have seen it. If the IT police check the site they will go onto the home page and not my portfolio. See what I mean? And we actually agree..they did agree to filter it so they should. Remember guys, I live in the Bible belt and so are a lot of big businesses. This is a US based company so they know how it is. We all have one goal, no matter our political affiliation..we want to make money! I sure don't want to anger any business who might want to purchase stock footage for commercial purposes as my company has.

As a Brit, I guess I don't have the proper perspective on this in depth argument, however, I'm in the mood. I have noticed the cheeky images on the homepage. I find it hard to understand why they are offensive in anyway. The whole idea that a stock site wouldn't provide images or clips that contain such content is frankly absurd, as a marketing strategy,as the whole of the industry acknowledges, sex sells, so to omit to from the cover would be kinda weird. Take a look around you, Pond5 is a long way from Sodom and Gomorrah, which is a good thing and don't over react, there are grey areas but I don't think P5 is there yet.

Things are getting a little hot in here, let's try to keep things civil gentlemen. Personal attacks of any sort are not okay, and if it continues to happen the users involved will be banned. Please don't make me say it again.

I know many people are/were concerned over the nudity on the front page. It's an issue that we kept thinking was solved, only to see it pop back up right away. As of now, I do believe it's all been taken care of. We will continue to require that it be marked as "sensitive content".
