Magic Latern is the name of the hacked firmware for the 5d that has zebra stripes. You have compile the firmware with a XOR encryptor or whatever. Or you can flash an already compiled fir file.

Hmm it can that i mix up another camera, but i believe i saw zebra as an option in the menu of my 7d. Ill check it out later today

I haven't found that on my 7D. Maybe you remember that hacked firmware that someone wrote for the 5D? That had zebra.

Okay, after doing my usual TON of research, I'm going with the Canon T1i for now. It will give me an upgrade path to the 7D and I prefer 30fps over 24fps for stock work. Hopefully I'll be able to order it within the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Well my 5D MKII just got sent back to Canon ...JUNK! Photos were all too soft. Never got a rejection from Alamy with the Canon 20D or 5D but the MKII is a steady 90% rejection due to soft. I guess so far I'm not one of the happy MKII campers.

Hmm, Sorry you got the lemon in the bunch. But that is the first I've heard of the 5d being soft. Mine is very sharp.
I have heard people saying they had autofocus problems with the 7d but I don't find that with mine either. Extreamely sharp with the L glass.
