RAW video on Canon 5d mk3 - ML

Edit:
I stand corrected about the hack, seems it gives 14 bit and 12 stops of DR.
Of course I'm also reading that this hack could likely make your cameras sensor overheat and you'll have a 14bit brick.
Also, the 24fps isn't something I am personally interested in shooting. Even if they got it to 29 I wouldn't try it in my camera.
So I feel pretty good in keeping my order for the BMC pocket camera getting 12bit and 13 stops of DR for $1K :)

The C300 is a great professional dedicated video camera. I'm trying to persuade my company to get two of them. The output is great, the form factor is solid, and it has all the inputs/outputs we'd need.

No matter how much you hack a DSLR, it's still a still camera that shoots video.

There are drawbacks right now with the hack, like the fact that it shoots to a special photo format that you then have to convert to dng then bring into AE, not sure how long that would take, but it has to be a small amount of time if you shoot 30 sec video (30x24=720 frames) @ 2 mb each.

Either way, I'm super excited about this, mainly because the fact that the technology race has exploded and this is opening doors to a huge amount of different things. Waiting for my Iphone to shoot 16k uncompressed UBER RAW

Definitely agree with the technology race. I just hope it opens Canon's eyes and puts some of these enhancements in their cameras.

Iphone 6 will shoot 4K

Soon in a store close to you: GOPRO 4k 60p for $500.

I have a gopro that does 4k at 15fps. close enough ;-P Just have your actors move 1/4 speed.
JHDT_Productions 15 May 2013 16:16
Mine do now. I pay them 1/4 wages.

The RAW from the 5D Mark III is breathtaking and it does NOT overheat. Because it's doing the same work like in normal H264 mode. The RAW signal that the sensor produces anyway is just redirected to the CompactFlash controller. Only the CF is stressed more but it's still within the specs.
