Now we need need tester13 to hack the T2i so that we can film more than 12 minutes (which is my only complain), so that Bloom can place his GH1 back in the closet ;-)

Anyway. it is great news that you can record mjpeg files hours at a time of the same or better quality as 24mbps avchd.

As for stock footage, I hope that the GH1 meets P5 buyer quality expectations, because I plan to buy one.

Having 1080p MJPEG is a huge bonus. I can't believe the quality of the frame grabs... like 3k stills.

If you have a GH1, do you have a powerful zoom lens. For the T2i you can buy the Zoom Telephoto AF-D 80-400mm for under $500. As far as I know the GH1 is limited to a 45-200mm lens. That's weak for nature and bird videography.

Did anyone know what the difference between avi MJPEG and mov MJPEG? Is it just the container they are in, but the codec is the same?

"MJPEG codec is in the Gh1; Apple's PHOTO JPEG"

Yeah its like a Red camera now, It looks pretty useful for a greenscreen camera. I wonder if this is why Red pulled the scarlet back to the drawing table (again)

One awesome thing about GH1 cameras is you can get an adapter for C-mount lenses which can be very high quality and very cheap. Luckily I already have a cmount, I MAY get a Gh1 bod.. However there are rumors that the 5d is going to get a similar hack, philip bloom mentioned it somewhere. I don't know if thats BS? or not?

However even if you can shoot at a high bitrate, I would still suggest that you not use it all the time.
