"Olympus OM-D E-M1 mk2" or "Panasonic GH5s"

@mjowra While RX10 MK 4 does far better than say a Canon handheld it's perfect as the AX100.

In between i own the OM-D EM1 mk2 and i'm so lucky with this camera, as it offers me possibilities which i hadn't before.
Got a 2-days offer by Amazon.de, €250.- below market price, and more about this as a registered Olympus user i got the €299.- battery grip for free !!! YES !!! :)
In between i must say, i really can recommend this camera for video. I use it with my Panasonic lenses till now. IBIS works perfect and shooting in low-light is a dream. Menu and settings need some settling-in, and a SDcard with up to 300mbs maybe important for some usage. So lucky now! (only the preview-quality of the P5 clips is lousy)

Beautiful footage, the colors on the chameleon are beautiful! I keep looking for something small that I can have with me for video. I currently shoot Nikon for stills and static video, then also have a Panasonic HCX1. Its great for run and gun, wildlife, but huge. Keep looking at a GH5 or the Olympus...I know a lot of people using the GH5 with Nikon lenses, but still not sure if thats what I need. You definitely have me reading up on the OM EM1!

Without the extra battery grip the OMD EM1 II has the same size like the Lumix G7, much smaller than the Canon 6D.
The Olympus action with free battery grip is running till August (i think to remember) when you buy the camera at a registered Olympus seller (like Amazon for my part). But with battery grip the camera becomes a real block, so i think i'll use it only for longer timelapses.
For my part IBIS is important because i'm a typical run and go handheld shooter. More about this the low light possibilities blow my mind. The silvan glade shot is taken with a simple standart Lumix 45-150 lens. Tried out different exposure settings, handheld, and nearly all have nearly no noise. Must note, this was not a sunny day, the sky was covered with grey cloudplanes and it was rainy. So you can imagine the light situation in a dense forest ;)
The chameleon clips were taken with a Lumix 100-300 power o.i.s. lens, also both handheld, the close up shot in full 300 zoom. Had to do in postwork only minimal pw-stabilisation.
Can't imagine how better it may work with original Zuiko lenses, but for the moment i must save money for next big holidays.

These were all handheld??? Wow, that impresses me even more. I have never looked at an Olympus camera until you mentioned this yesterday, so reading a bit. Do the lumix lenses fit with no adapters? I know I can look this up later as that was one thing I was debating on getting an Olympus or Panasonic was lenses. The Nikon lenses work with adapters but some losses and from what I am understanding, you do lose the AF systems.
Beckhusen 8 Jul 2018 22:29
It's the 4/3 system, so you can use all lenses which are for 4/3 without adapter. I'm no friend of adapters.

I did some reaading on using adapters with the Panasonic and the Olympus.... sounds like for really simple things, no biggie, but yes, some loss in quality. But looked at some lenses to like you mentioned. Thanks Beckhusen!

A certain point is:
When you will change a lens and have also to put on the adapter, ..... it's more fumbling than only to change the lens and so there's more risk to get in dust on the sensor!
Of course when you have good Nikon lenses it's damn when you cannot use it (same for me with my Canon lenses), but last not least 4/3 lenses are also an invest in the future because you can use it with more cameras which will come up. So for the moment i use my both Lumix lenses from my G7 backup camera, ...... and to be true, ..... what do you really need more than 2 lenses? One for close ups and standarts, one for zoom.
While from time to time it's normal to invest in a new camera, your lenses go with you your whole life.
I have for my G7 an adapter to use my Canon lenses, but i lost AF with this and shots with my Canon fisheye shows borders in 2 corners. That's real bullshit. The really great adapters including AF etc are too expensive.

When I want to dream which camera I should buy ..... I go here .... https://tech.ebu.ch/camera_reports_tech3335 .... the site BBC tells you to go for camera performance ..... and the winner is a Canon C300 MkII .
