30p and 25p

I agree with PerJohan. If you conform clips using cinema tools you can have whatever frame rate you like without loss of quality. I must say I'm either far too lazy or far too pushed for time to bother. 25p clips seem to sell. Maybe it's because 24p is very very close and gives more of a 'cinema' feel that editors like.

phantomewo,
I've just linked some clips by sending an e-mail to contact@pond5.
The curator told me to use a colon to connect the clips I want associated.
i.e.
3333333333:44444444

where and when do you put the file numbers and colon? It might be a great instruction on how to do it step by step. Yur the man ;)

In "best this week" sales, 40 clips sold in 25p and 24p is something that makes you think if you should also offer 25p clips in addition to 29.97 even though P5 video spec page states that clips should be MOV / 29.97 fps. At the same quality level, 25p clips are much smaller in megabytes than 29.97 clips.

I am assuming that buyers would like to buy a converted clip that they can throw directly into their time-line.

24p is used worldwide for those who prefer a film-look vs live-look

25p is generally for European use - PAL

30p is used worldwide for those who prefer a look that is a "cross" between live and film.

29.97i is for those who prefer the Hi-Key live video look and generally used in the NTSC world.

As I've mentioned in these forums before - professional editors have " very few" issues converting the footage to the format that is required in their project.

I have a software/hardware matrix for anyone who wants it - that describes the preferred method for converting almost any format, to almost any other format.

Most people I know seem to prefer the "look" of 24/25p footage vs. 29.97i

One idea is to shoot in the format that you "think" your footage maybe be used in. - i.e. if you "think" your footage maybe used on the Discovery Network shoot 29.97 (1080i) - if you think it may be picked up in a commercial spot - 30fps may be the best bet.

phantomewo,
To associate files, simply send an e-mail to contact@pond5.com once they are online.
Pond5 told me to:
submit the clipsIDs in a row together, separated by a colon.
e.g.
1111111:2222222
hope that helps.
