Seminole Indians spoken Ethnography Music Narratives Announcements [Cow Creek settlement] Seminole Indian Reservation Glades County, Florida

This is a group of Florida Seminole Indians recording their native songs. The first is the Snake Song. The singers are John Josh, Naha Tiger, Barfield Johns, Robert Osceola, and Billy Bowlegs. This song is used at the annual Hunting Dance. The Hunting Dance is a spiritual ritual held each autumn. In this instance, the song was performed with the purpose of being recorded, not as part of the ceremony itself. The sound quality of this recording is extremely poor. It has been transcribed above.
