Pond5 Is Ripping Off Contributors

In the last month I'm having sales of $4 on clips that have a selling price of $50. Pond5 claims this is part of some new program exposing my clips to more buyers. They tell me I can't opt out of this. So Pond5 and its partners are now getting 92% of my sales. I've been with the company almost since the beginning and contribute here exclusively. This percentage is a total betrayal of how the company started off marketing itself to contributors. In the beginning they always tried to be freelancer friendly. You could set the price and you would get 50% of the sale. Now I'm only getting 8%. If this continues I'll be moving my entire collection elsewhere. This is a rip off.

As someone who just signed up as an Exclusive contributor, this is really disheartening to read.

F....! Exclusive HD clip, original price 105 $ sold for $ 6.97 :(

Same here. But it's not the percentage that's changed. They allow their GPP to sell videos for 5-8 USD instead of the price that we set on the Pond5 platform. It's really annoying, because these sales (on the Shutterstock platform, maybe?) are eating away the money that Pond5 and we contributors could make. I fear Shutterstock is simply predating on Pond5 and us.

It's been the beginning of the end for awhile now. I'm waiting for my first $6 sale then I take all of my content off P5

Same thing. That garbage hits me just once, I'm out. At least this experience has motivated me to curate some of my unused broll footage.

I too had some low dollar value sales. However, big question is where do we move our content to sell.Every micro stock website are basically making tons of money out of our efforts.SS is probably the worst of all.I see Getty also literally stealing away the money which belongs to contributors and they went public so now to increase their profits they will squeeze the contributors even more.

A very frustrating development. My last sales were far below $10. However, not only at P5, but also at other agencies, a consistently sad picture.

so we have now reached the level of a mobile phone company that makes money from selling subscriptions, unfortunately nothing will be done while people on here are happy to price their work for a few dollars and will be happy to pocket under 10 dollars for a video, i have been approached many times now by people wanting to use my video and images just for a byline and no fee, while people are doing this you can't get lower than zero.
